Meet the Team

RONAN MCCULLAGH
PT and owner of KiloGym
Ronan started his athletic career in shot put, before moving to powerlifting and weightlifting. He benefited from coaching by some of the world’s finest, including Olympian weightlifters Dmitry Klokov and Gabrial Sîncrăian, and powerlifter Marc Keys. Proud holder of a British Championships silver medal, these days Ronan is dedicated to passing on his expertise to others, from novices to professionals. He worked as a personal coach in Edinburgh before launching KiloGym in 2023 – crafting an environment designed to foster maximum motivation and deliver the best results for members.

GEMMA BARNES
PT
A lifelong fitness devotee, Gemma is now focused on supporting others to achieve their goals. She believes physical fitness and good mental health are closely entwined, and puts an equal emphasis on both. Gemma gained her personal training qualification at Edinburgh PT Academy, after a first career in the family textiles firm – and raising two daughters. An experienced boxer, competitively and for personal fitness, she will be leading regular boxercise classes as well as one-to-one programs at KiloGym.

LUCY BUGLASS
PT
A Former member of the GB rowing team, bodybuilder and CrossFit athlete, Lucy left the corporate world in 2020 to pursue a career in health and fitness. With a particular passion for woman's health, Lucy is qualified in pre and post natal exercise and nutrition, and is menopause and peri-menopause coaching specialist. Lucy delivers Kilo's strength classes on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning and runs post-natal fitness classes for mums and babies each week.

Calumn Duthie

With over 8 years of coaching experience and more than 12,000 hours spent in the gym helping people smash their goals, Calumn is here to show you what truly works. Spoiler: it’s not fad diets or dodgy quick fixes! Whether you want to build muscle, lose fat, or simply feel more energetic chasing your kids, Calumn will create a plan tailored specifically to your goals—one you’ll actually enjoy sticking to. His philosophy? Fitness isn’t just about looking good (though that’s a nice bonus!); it’s about improving your health and discovering what you’re truly capable of

Katie Rafferty

With over 10 years of coaching experience, Katie is dedicated to helping busy women build confidence, physical and mental strength, and discover a healthy, balanced lifestyle they truly love! Every programme and session is designed specifically around you—your life, your goals, and your needs—while guaranteeing plenty of fun along the way! Katie has worked with and helped hundreds of women from all walks of life through personal training, coaching, and class instruction and finds immense joy in helping her clients achieve their goals and a true sense of life satisfaction.

Jill Muirden
PT
Jill is a Personal Trainer and British Weightlifting Level 2 coach specialising in barbell-based strength training. With experience coaching everyone from complete beginners to masters athletes, she delivers practical, supportive, confidence-building coaching that helps people feel capable, not intimidated, by strength training. Having found the sport of Olympic Weightlifting later in life and gone on to compete internationally, Jill knows first-hand how strength can change what people believe they’re capable of. As a Menopause Movement Certified Coach, she also supports women to train confidently through midlife and beyond. At Kilo Gym, Jill offers small-group and one-to-one coaching designed to help people move better, get stronger, and build strength that lasts for life.

Rachael Clayton
PT
Rachael is a personal with a physiotherapy background and experience across all levels of fitness, abilities and ages groups. She helps individuals build strength and fitness through clear, structured and goal-focused coaching, with a strong emphasis on quality movement, confidence and injury prevention.
Her approach is supportive, making training feel approachable whether you’re new to lifting, returning after injury, or working towards a specific performance goal.
Rachael is also the co-founder of REstrength, a specialised coaching brand delivering both online and in-person training, built around clarity, consistency and confidence.
